Excerpt from ‘Inland’, 2007, 6’
« “In the short film Inland Viola Groenhart shows to not shy away from the great themes of art. Inland is a crossover between a pastoral landscape and a painting of Caspar David Friedrich. We look right into a lush green forest. The lighting and sound are here too so phenomenal that the green “crackles” and one feels as if one can almost smell the forest. The film has been shot in one long take. It seems as if the camera has been hiding away in a cave and glances at the landscape outside, but then retracts into the cave once again. A girl appears into the image. For a moment, she quietly looks ahead.” »
